We need your help for Ireland’s First Children’s Hospice.
"It's about life and living. You can't change the inevitable, your situation. To me a hospice is a big home, big house with lots of life, love, support and happiness."
Ireland's First Children's Hospice was opened in September 2011 by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese. Families and children are already using the services of LauraLynn House, reaching over 300 children and their families a year.
The Children’s Sunshine Home Hospice Project and The Laura Lynn Foundation came together in 2006 to realize their shared vision and bring comfort and support to families in Ireland.
Where possible, a child should die at home with their family, the reality is that for some families this may not be possible.
We want to give families a choice.
It has 8 bedrooms with en-suite accommodation, and comfortable living accommodation just like a large bungalow. It also has family apartments where families can come and stay and be near their child, especailly when a child is being cared for at end of life.
Every aspect of the design enhances the comfort and care of the child while at the same time considering the sensitivity of the families. Other facilities includes a family room, a quiet room, music and playrooms, outdoor water features, a quiet garden, multisensory room etc
LauraLynn House is supported by a multi-disciplinary team of staff from Paediatrician, Palliative Care Nurses, Clinical Team, Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy.
LauraLynn House help:
