A Magical Indoor St. Patrick’s Day Parade at LauraLynn

Published: 19 Mar 2026

When weather warnings forced the cancellation of our planned outdoor campus parade, the LauraLynn team quickly brought the magic indoors for an unforgettable St. Patrick's Day celebration.

While the unpredictable weather and recent weather warnings meant we had to make the difficult decision to cancel our planned outdoor St. Patrick's Day Parade, it certainly didn't dampen our spirits! Instead, we quickly moved the celebrations indoors, hosting a 'mini parade' and party inside LauraLynn House.

Kicking off in the day room, the parade was beautifully led by our Music Therapist, Katarina, who kept the energy high with a fantastic mix of tunes, ranging from the traditional Molly Malone right up to Taylor Swift! Staff from across all departments at LauraLynn lined the corridors, cheering and playing musical instruments like shakers and drums to create a brilliant festival atmosphere.

The absolute stars of the show were, of course, the children staying in the hospice. Each child represented their very own 'float' in the parade, receiving a special introduction and their own dedicated song as they proudly made their way through the halls alongside their family members.

No St. Patrick's Day parade is complete without the man himself! Staff Nurse David stepped up as our Grand Marshall, dressed impeccably as St. Patrick. He warmly welcomed all the attendees and even managed to drive the 'snakes'—brilliantly played by some of our wonderful Transition Year students on work placement—right out of the hospice!

The wonderful afternoon was topped off with some delicious treats back in the day room. A huge thank you to our staff, the TY students, and the families who joined in. It was a truly unforgettable day filled with music, laughter, and that special kind of magic that happens at LauraLynn.
