We are delighted to announce that LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, has been shortlisted in two categories at the Irish Healthcare Centre Awards 2025: Clinical Team of the Year (Public) and Specialist Care Centre of the Year. The ceremony will take place on Friday, 23rd May, at the Clayton Hotel, Dublin, hosted by Martin King.

The Clinical Team of the Year nomination recognises the dedication and innovation of our Family Support Team. Rebecca Candon, Family Support Team Manager, shared:
"I am incredibly proud of our team for this recognition. It reflects the hard work, innovation, and teamwork that goes into supporting families. This work is about consistency, being there for families when they need us most, and working together to provide the best care possible."

Rebecca also highlighted the collective support from our medical, nursing, and wider LauraLynn team.

Some of the innovations that led to this nomination include:

  • Overcoming geographic obstacles by having community-based team members in Ballinasloe and Mallow and offering therapeutic supports online.
  • Developing digital bereavement resources for parents and staff working with parents.
  • Family camps.
  • Unique therapeutic interventions such as the LauraLynn Oscars and LauraLynn @the Abbey.

In the Specialist Care Centre of the Year category, LauraLynn is honoured to be shortlisted alongside leading organisations such as the Institute of Dermatologists, Crann Centre, and HSE Linn Dara Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

This recognition celebrates a period of remarkable growth and innovation at LauraLynn. In just three years, referrals have more than doubled, and our reach has expanded through over 3,200 community visits in 2024 alone.
Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our CHKS accreditation, awarded after a rigorous inspection process, and in our pioneering educational and research initiatives, including Ireland’s first PhD scholarship in children’s palliative care.
At the heart of it all is our belief that every child and family deserves compassionate, expert care—wherever they are, whenever they need it.

These nominations celebrate our commitment to providing the right care, in the right place, at the right time for children and families.
