On Saturday, 11th April, we hosted our Annual Remembrance Service. It was wonderful to see so many families gather together in person, alongside those who joined us from home via our live stream.
The day offered two dedicated times for families to reflect. In the morning, families had the opportunity to visit the Memorial Garden at our campus, which now features a beautiful new 'Unfolding Fern' sculpture. In the afternoon, the main service took place at the Leopardstown Pavilion.
It was a poignant and deeply hopeful day. Among the music, readings, and time spent together, the most important element was the strong sense of shared support. Two reflections truly stood out during the service: Áine Ní Fhaoláin offered gentle guidance for children coping with grief, while Sinéad Browne shared a moving reflection on her own personal journey following the loss of her daughter, Maia.
Reflecting on the importance of the event, Breffni McGuinness from our Family Support Team shared:
"Our Remembrance Service is one way that LauraLynn can provide a supportive and safe space for families to take a little break on their grief journey, to be supported, and above all, to remember their children."
International Recognition of Our Bereavement Care
We are incredibly proud to see the dedication of our Family Support Team and wider staff recognised internationally. We are thrilled to share that abstracts detailing LauraLynn’s Memorial Garden, our Bereavement Care Pathway, and our Support Groups have been accepted for the upcoming European Grief Conference. This is a wonderful validation of the comprehensive bereavement care LauraLynn provides.
A heartfelt thank you to all the families who joined us, and to the dedicated staff and volunteers across LauraLynn who worked together to create such a safe, supportive space to remember the children.
