FAQs

The challenge is to complete the distance of 100 kilometres throughout the month of May while fundraising for LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

Not at all! The goal is to do the 100km over the month of May.  It is up to you how you complete it. Most people will be doing 3km or 4km a day. You can do what best suits your lifestyle.

You can run, jog or walk the 100 km. This is your decision. If you’re worried about not being able to run it all why don’t you start walking and build your way up to running. This is a personal challenge and all you can do is your best.

That’s easy! You can use the personal tracker in the leaflet which comes in your pack, just write down how many km's you do at the end of each day. Don’t forget to post in the Facebook Group too and let us know how you’re doing!

There are loads of apps available in the App and Google Play Store. We recommend using Strava or MapMyFitness. You can also use your smart watch if you have one. LauraLynn will provide a tracker in your fundraising pack too.

As part of this challenge, you will be asked to set up a '100km in May' Facebook Fundraising Page for LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice where you can post your distances weekly or after every run depending on preference. These pages are linked to LauraLynn and we’ll be able to see your progress.

Visit  https://www.facebook.com/fund/LauraLynnChildrensHospice/ and wait for the pop-up to set up a page. Be sure to add '100k in May' in your page title so we can easily find you and make double sure the end date is set to 1st  June  2020.

Of course. Setting a goal of 100km and then exceeding that goal would be fantastic!

We suggest starting on May 1st and continuing throughout the month but if the timing doesn’t suit you then feel free to pick a time that does.

You can register for your pack here: https://givp.nl/erf/67Hpiua3

You should receive your fundraising pack in the post by the start of the challenge. We are sending the packs out in large batches from the middle of April.

An exclusive 100K in May LauraLynn T-Shirt and a leaflet which will include a tracker for you to keep track of your km's.

Facebook Fundraisers are the easiest way for you to fundraise. It makes fundraising from home simple! The funds raised are lodged directly into our bank account and there are no fees involved. Alternatively, you can request a sponsorship card by emailing challenges@lauralynn.ie

Unfortunately we can’t issue refunds through Facebook but people can request a refund themselves from Facebook by following the below steps:

Send them this link: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/162031714239823

Select - I donated to a fundraiser on Facebook
Select - I want a refund for my donation(s)
Select - I made a donation by accident and request the refund.

If someone not on Facebook wants to donate, they should still be able to do so. Share the direct link of your fundraiser with them and they can enter their details. Alternatively there are two other options for them to support your fundraiser.

  1. They can give you the cash or transfer you the funds (via Revolut, PayPalMe, Online Banking etc) and you can add the donation to your fundraiser yourself.

  1. They can donate directly to LauraLynn via www.lauralynn.ie/donate. If they do this, please ask them to put your name and '100K in May' in the message box so funds can be allocated correctly.

You can absolutely complete this challenge as an organisation or work group. In fact, it is a great team bonding exercise and lots of healthy, competitive fun.
