FAQS - September Dog Walking Challenge

Could you complete 50 Miles in September with your furry friend and help to raise funds for children with life-limiting conditions and their families?

It’s a tough challenge, but it’ll help LauraLynn provide vital care, while keeping you and your pooch healthy too!

By joining the LauraLynn 'September Dog Walking' Challenge, you’ll be making an incredible difference to the lives of the children in our care.

We have created a Facebook Group of people like you who are doing this challenge. Join it to see how they’re getting on!

Any questions? Take a look at the FAQs below, or email Cathy & Ciara on challenges@lauralynn.ie

The challenge is to complete the distance of 50 miles (or your chosen distance) throughout the month of September with your dog(s) while fundraising for LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

While this is a dog walking challenge you can still take part if you don’t have a dog to complete it.

Not at all! The goal is to do the 50 miles over the month of September.  It is up to you how you complete it.

Of course! If 50 miles doesn’t suit, you can choose a distance which does. Just make sure it’s a safe distance for your furry friend!

That’s easy! You can use the personal tracker in the leaflet which comes in your pack, just write down how many miles you do at the end of each day. Don’t forget to post in the Facebook Group too and let us know how you’re doing!

There are loads of apps available in the App and Google Play Store. We recommend using Strava or MapMyFitness. You can also use your smart watch if you have one. LauraLynn will provide a tracker in your fundraising pack too.

As part of this challenge, you will be asked to set up a 'September Dog Walking Challenge' Facebook Fundraising Page for LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice where you can post your distances weekly or after every run depending on preference. These pages are linked to LauraLynn and we’ll be able to see your progress.

Visit https://givepanel.me/fb/g3qjXiC7 and wait for the pop-up to set up a page.

We suggest starting on September 1st and continuing throughout the month but if the timing doesn’t suit you then feel free to pick a time that does.

You can register for your pack here: https://givp.nl/erf/AW397nA5

You should receive your fundraising pack in the post by the start of the challenge. We are sending the packs out in large batches from the middle of August.

An exclusive LauraLynn T-Shirt, special dog bandana and a leaflet which will include a tracker for you to keep track of your miles.

The bandanas are one size fits all, it will fit a Chihuahua to a German Shepherd and more.

Each pack comes with one bandana, if you have more than one dog email us on challenges@lauralynn.ie and we will send you an extra one.

You can fundraise off Facebook by setting up an iDonate page. Use this iDonate link to set yours up now.

Unfortunately we can’t issue refunds through Facebook but people can request a refund themselves from Facebook by following the below steps:

Send them this link: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/162031714239823

Select - I donated to a fundraiser on Facebook
Select - I want a refund for my donation(s)
Select - I made a donation by accident and request the refund.

If someone not on Facebook wants to donate, they should still be able to do so. Share the direct link of your fundraiser with them and they can enter their details. Alternatively there are two other options for them to support your fundraiser.

  1. They can give you the cash or transfer you the funds (via Revolut, PayPalMe, Online Banking etc) and you can add the donation to your fundraiser yourself.

  1. They can donate directly to LauraLynn via www.lauralynn.ie/donate. If they do this, please ask them to put your name and ‘Dog Walking Challenge’ in the message box so funds can be allocated correctly.

You can absolutely complete this challenge as an organisation or work group. In fact, it is a great team bonding exercise and lots of healthy, competitive fun. Together with your colleagues, you can join our community. It's simple to do and you'll be amazed at how many people will support you.
