LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, is proud to launch its 2024 Annual Report and Financial Statement, showcasing a year of remarkable progress, resilience, and unwavering support from our community. Governance and transparency are central to LauraLynn’s operations and our Annual Report is an important tool for us in demonstrating how resources are managed and the impact of our work with children and families across Ireland.

2024 marked the first year of our new five-year strategy, Advancing Our Vision: Extending Our Community of Care (2024–2028). This plan focuses on equity, access, quality, and collaboration, with six strategic ambitions guiding our work, from supporting our hospice and disability services, driving standards of care through research and education to strengthening advocacy, and financial sustainability.

Hospice Services

Our hospice service reached more children and families than ever before, with 360 children supported and 575 admissions to LauraLynn House. That is our highest annual intake to date. We expanded our community care with a new hub in Ballinasloe and the re-establishment of our Dublin community team, and launched innovative bereavement support, including eLearning modules and hybrid support groups.

Disability Services

Hazel House, our children’s disability respite service, provided 1,191 respite nights to 49 children, while Willow View continued its transformation journey to support six adult residents in transitioning to more independent, community-based living. Both services received positive HIQA inspections and implemented new models of care.

Sustainability and Innovation

We made significant strides in sustainability, including the installation of energy-efficient boilers, solar panels, and the introduction of a fully electric vehicle. Our Green Campus Strategy is now in place, with plans to further reduce our environmental impact in 2025.

Funding and Financial Overview

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, LauraLynn raised €9.7 million in 2024, with standout campaigns like the 24Hour Treadmill Challenge and Hero Day

LauraLynn's main sources of income are:

  1. Section 38 Service Agreement funding from the HSE for our Disability Service
  2. Fundraised income/donations for our Hospice Service, which also receives partial funding (€2.3m) from the HSE under a Section 39 Service Agreement.

Our financial position remains strong, with reserves in place to support future growth.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our families, staff, volunteers, donors, fundraisers, and corporate partners. Thank you also to our dedicated, voluntary board of directors. Your support enables us to provide vital care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Ireland.
